During its 32 years of history, Shiu's Goose Meat has become very popular for its excellence. Geese that are butchered and prepared for sale on site are fresh and uniquely tasty. The meat is boiled in water and left untouched until it's the perfect temperature, but not bleached. Instead, it is served with its original texture and flavors. A large plate is enough for two to enjoy and a free plate of cooked vegetables and the store's own special sauce come with each order--a perfect compliment which brings out the meat's flavors. Glutinous Rice Goose Blood Cake (NT$50) is a rarely-seen dish that is brought to the table when it's still hot for a very chewy, enjoyable treat. Chopped Mixed Goose Liver and Gizzard (NT$150) is a great combination with rice and wine. In addition to the fragrant goose liver, the gizzard is soaked in goose fat, making it delicate, soft and smooth but not dry. Goose chin is another tender dish (NT$30-40) with chewy skin and juicy bones, making it tasty enough for many regular customers to order seconds. Fried Rice and Fried Rice Noodles (NT$50) are another offered Taiwan classic.
