This shop is located across from the parking lot on DaCheng Street, on the corner with a drainage canal. Every evening, you can clearly see tables filled with customers seated here eating goose meat under the bright lights. This shop opened in 1980 and has become one of the most famous goose meat restaurants in the Taichung city area. The owner, Mr. Huang, continues his stepfather's business here and says that the secret to their success has been fair prices. Goose farms cooperating with him for a long time all know of his insistance on good quality. Geese are chosen when they are about 100 days old and weigh about seven kilograms, as geese that are too fat provide meat that is too thick, while ones that are too thin give non-fatty meat. Geese are brought here in the morning, prepared for sale in the afternoon and sold until closing time. Meat is not kept overnight and they offer daily the freshest birds. Prices for a plate of goose meat start at NT$100 and has a freshness and tenderness that will leave many customers wanting more. The meat here is cooked in water, bringing out the pure, unaltered flavors of the goose. Even the soup is sweet and originally flavored. Goose liver ($NT30) and gizzard (NT$60) cooked in this soup, together with a bowl of rice noodles (NT$20), is a perfect combination!
