Owner/manager Chen Jeng-lung was inspired to open this medium-sized corner cafe by his many travels abroad, where he enjoyed similar, European-style establishments. Located in Nantun district, not far from WenXin South Road, Elite Cafe Patisserie indeed does have a European-style air to it, with table seating for 24 and a long pastry display area, full of cakes, breads, desserts and other more unique items, like the mousse-filled "mochi" glutinous rice cakes. There is a creatively-decorated assortment of six-inch and eight-inch cakes for various occasions, respectively starting from NT$300 and NT$500. Chen aims to offer his customers top quality at reasonable prices, including various coffees (NT$35-60) made with his favorite Italian Lavazza-brand beans, and French Hediard teas. Other menu items include Coffee Sorbet (NT$60), panna cotta and cheesecakes. Some offerings that help Elite stand out include Western breakfast entrees (from 6 a.m. on) and rare Belgian beer brands, like the Gouden Carolus Classic dark special beer, or Ambrio Royal Draft (NT$150). Other marks of Chen's commitment include attentive service and Elite's use of quality glassware and utensils for dining-in customers.
