Japanese restaurants have been springing up in Taichung like bamboo shoots after a spring shower, creating a war-like competition between establishments. Situated at the intersection of LinSen and SanMin roads is one Japanese eatery that stands out from the crowd. Liang Jin provides a choice of set-menu meals, such as the sashimi, tempura, pork cutlet, roasted mackerel and Nigiri sushi sets. The manager especially recommends the fresh live eel, carefully selected by the head chef. These handpicked live eels are prepared and roasted on the spot for the roasted eel set. Veal ribs are used to prepare the sukiyaki beef set (NT$290). Apart from the main course, each set menu includes a Temakizishi (hand roll), Japanese-style salad, katsuo-bushi (dried fish flakes) with tofu, steamed egg and miso soup. This reasonably-priced but elegantly-decorated set menu restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere and is equally suitable for business lunches or family gatherings.
