INDIAN RESTAURANT

Taichung's newest Indian establishment takes
this cuisine in an upscale direction as the classiest Indian
restaurant in town. Located in the heart of the Canal District,
just off of HuaMei Street, Andrew Indian Restaurant looks
good inside and out, with dark wood paneled entrance and floors,
and a classy decor dominated by gold and brown colors. This
includes gold tablecloths, attractive dishware and other chic
touches. At the back of the room, which seats over 100, a
large glass window allows diners to see the chefs at work,
and there is a large, flat-screen TV playing--of course--Indian
videos. The cuisine, largely north Indian, is prepared by
Indian chefs who all have extensive experience at international
five-star hotels in their home country. Authenticity is helped
by an imported Tandoor oven and imported Indian spices. The
medium-priced menu features a wide range of items, such as
Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka, Lamb Seekh Kebab, Tandoori
Pomfret (fish), and plenty of tasty vegetable, Dal, chicken,
lamb and seafood curries. Other items include 10 types of
Nan, Roti and other Indian breads, papadams, Indian Kulfi
ice cream desserts, Lassi yoghurt drinks, Indian milk tea,
and Indian Kingfisher Beer.--By Douglas Habecker, translated
