When you pass through the intersection of
ChaoFu and LongMen roads, it's hard to miss the
huge sign advertising A-Ciou Fat Goose. This leisure garden-style
place features seating under big trees, a wooden floor and
shining neon. When the gentle evening breezes begin blowing
through, it's the perfect place to cool off naturally in the
heart of the city. As its name hints, this restaurant's recommended
specialty is certainly the cooked goose, made with selected
specimens of the Qingyuan black, long-necked female goose.
These are roasted to an appetizing golden-red, color, with
meat that is crips and soft but not greasy. Credit for this
goes to A-Ciou's use of a famous Hong Kong chef, who puts
his wonderful skills on display daily. There are other
special don't-miss dishes, like the "Male-Virgin Crab", which may be new to many diners. The Sour
and Spicy Shredded Tripe is also a nice accompaniment
for drinking. In addition to other beers, they also offer
draft Taiwan Beer. During A-Ciou's
opening period, there is also a buy-one-get-one-free deal
on regular and draft Taiwan Beer, for the makings of a perfect
tasty goose-cold beer combination.
