This new, second-floor bar sits over an old cafe (over 25 years old) on an alley opposite the Taichung City Council building on MinQuan Road. Gloria Bar labels itself as a business bar because it provides free Internet services. You can also send and receive faxes, make photocopies and even enjoy three free minutes of Internet telephone. This allows business people to both relax and, if necessary, conveniently take care of any urgent business matters that arise. Not surprisingly, many customers are business travelers over the age of 30. The interior is decorated in 1920s-to-1940s old Shanghainese style. Most of the smaller decorative items have been brought back from Shanghai by the owner himself, and theme is reflected in the retro-style tables and chairs. Prices here are very reasonable: Taiwan Beer is only NT$138 and Gold Label Beer is NT$150. Whiskies and other drinks are also relatively low-priced. Other features include karaoke equipment for you to sing your heart out with, and a variety of cigars.
