--By Jay Wang, translated by Cara Steenstra

Located along busy TaiZhongGang Road, this haven from the outside world will take you by surprise, with the gentle aroma of wine and simple French country-style cuisine, combined with an aristocratic air and retro Shanghai-style decor. This environment is perfect for savoring the very wide range of available wines, from fruity to dry--whatever your palate desires. The main business at Poet's Cellar is the importation and sale of French wines. Working on the belief that a wine's quality is not always determined by its price, this place works hard to search for great wines with special qualities. Acting on another principle--that wines are not exclusive domain of the rich and noble, but are part of our ordinary lives--they organize wine-tasting evenings here (limited spaces available). Apart from introducing wines, the cellar owner carefully prepares simple, daily noon meals for NT$150. Amongst these, the quiche is the most popular and makes for a wonderful combination with the lovely wines found here.
