Situated on the 11th floor of Taichung's Idee Department Store, Da Tang Sheng Shi delivers quality dining with Hong Kong-style "yum cha", VIP room banquets and larger scale dinner banquets. The modern decor is an elegant blend of East meets West, with quiet VIP rooms and an elegant banquet hall that accomodates up to 70 tables. There are three Chef's Recommended Set Menus, priced at NT$1800, NT$1200 and NT$800 per person. The NT$800 menu includes the Gold Medallion Roast Piglet, Long Shu Lettuce Wrap, Sesame and Tofu Pot, Sweet and Sour Fish, Salted Fish with Fresh Asparagus, Hong Kong-style Dim Sum, Dessert and Fruit. Each dish is delicately presented and sumptuous, well worth a try. For those who are unable to make it all the way to Hong Kong to experience the "yum cha" culture, come here on a weekend and experience the fun of picking out your favorite dim sum directly from the dim sum carts. Small dim sum items are N$58 per dish, including dishes like the Radish Cake, Roast Pork with Oyster Sauce Buns, and Beef Balls. Medium-sized dim sum are NT$88 per dish, including the Lotus Leaf Wrapped Sticky Rice with Chicken, and the Steamed Xiu Mai with Crab. Large dim sum are NT$128 per dish, including the Da Tang Shrimp Dumpling and Seafood Pumpkin Pot. Also available are Hong Kong- style desserts like Sago in Coconut Milk, Coffee Pudding and Almond Jelly. Quite a lot of Hong Kong people who live in Taichung are regular customers at Da Tang Sheng Shi.
