Located on a quiet road between Morrison Academy and ChongDe Road, Chef's Barbecue World is a pleasant surprise, with its clean, colorful interiors and reasonably-priced barbecue, which puts a Western-style twist on the popular local "shao kao" barbecue fad. There are 36 seats in the brightly-lit interior, highlighted in yellow and red, as well as nice outdoor seating where one catch the evening breezes. Diners can select from a buffet of about 12 different meats and seafoods, including pork, chicken, lamb chops, clams and salmon, plus vegetables and mushrooms. The items are fresh and selected each morning from the market. Barbecue items start around NT$60 per portion and are barbecued on the long charcoal grill outside. The Chinese/English menu also has a variety of boiled vegetables, barbecue kebab-style skewers, rice and noodles. To go with one's barbecue there are cheap large bottles of beer--NT$60 Taiwan Beer, NT$110 Kirin and NT$130 Heineken. Heading north on ChongDe Road, section 3, turn left at ChongDe 10th Road and the restaurant is about 100 meters further on the right, with plenty of roadside parking available. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Jean Huang
