"Welcome to our store. Can you speak English?" This is the greeting that all local customers here when they enter this cozy little eatery, run by California native Parker and his Taiwanese wife. Located one street over from Art Street, this friendly place--decorated in bright yellows hues--aims to serve affordable home-cooked, all-American food, while providing an English environment for those hoping for some language practice. Towards this goal, there is a different music theme (reggae, country & western, etc.) every day, movie nights, English KTV and other fun activities. The menu starts with tasty breakfast specials (available all day) like the NT$90 pancake, omelette, or waffle specials (with hash browns, eggs and bacon), or NT$130 Big Breakfast and the make-your-own omelettes. Two pancakes (buttermilk, banana, peach, blueberry) can also be ordered for NT$60. Lunch specials (which come with a drink) include taco, burrito (NT$90), sandwich, or cheeseburger (NT$140). Other offerings include chili, salads, soups, potato skins, and beers--from NT$90 Coors Light to NT$110 Granville Island imported brews. There is also a little grocery section selling US products, from canned tuna and salad dressing to candy and chips. There is take-out, 10-percent discounts on morning/afternoon specials, and accumulating 12 special meals (marked on a card) gets you one free meal.
