If
you want to eat a lot spicy "mala" hot pot and
you can't find a friend to help you eat it, then come to
this place for their mini-hotpots. After gaining a name
for itself with six years of business in Taipei's Yonghe,
this restaurant has opened a new franchise in Taichung.
The design of this shop is relatively simple, but tasteful,
and the prices of the food are reasonable. There are two
ways to dine. One is the individual hot pot (NT$80 with
tofu, duck blood, sausages), with many flavors to choose
from--kimchee, curry, spicy, duck blood, sausage, and others.
You can add your favorite ingredients, such as beef, mutton,
pork and seafood (NT$120-150) or sausages, duck blood,
dumplings, vegetables, tofu (NT$30). For some adventure,
try the 15 Style Sausage Hotpot (NT$190), with choices
of beef, mutton or pork; noodles or rice; two side dishes;
and crispy fried or steamed stinky tofu--both house specialties.
The spicy hotpot soup base is highly recommended. You can
add licorice, crystal sugar, peppers and Chinese-style
spicy sauce to the chili; the taste assaults your taste
buds and opens up your pores once it hits your mouth. Even
the least-spicy dish here is hot in comparison to other
shops, so be careful when ordering. --By Uvia Chang
