GOLDEN CURRY
This little cubbyhole of a restaurant is located on the corner of Taizhong Gang and Jian Xing roads, opposite The Splendor Hotel and Sogo Department Store, in what used to be the Frog Bagel outlet. The Chinese-Thai owner, Mr. Jang, has 18 years of curry-making experience and serves up a simple menu of authentic, tasty Thai and Southeast Asian curries for extremely reasonable prices. Nothing's over NT$100, including the NT$99 Red Coconut Milk Beef Curry and Green Coconut Milk Chicken Curry, with come with a side salad, or the Beef Curry Rice (NT$85) and Chicken or Pork Curry Rice (NT$75). There is also the Thai-style Vegetable Salad (NT$25), Indian Pea Soup (NT$25) and some noodle dishes. Wash your meal down with a NT$50 Indian Milk Tea or can of Heineken, or a Vietnamese-style Coffee. When it gets warmer, Mr. Jang plans to add an evening selection of barbecued Thai satay sticks and Thai-style iced snacks, such as the popular "momo chacha". In addition to the open-air tables downstairs, there are more upstairs. For customers in the nearby area, a lunch delivery service is also available.
