GERMAN
FOOD AND BEER AT VIVA CAFÉ
Fine dining connoisseurs in central Taiwan will welcome yet
another opportunity to savor great cuisine this month, thanks
once again to Viva Cafe. From the beginning of October, this
popular restaurant has launched its three-month German Food
Festival, the latest installment in a never-ending rotation
of international dining events. Leading into the festival
is Viva's concurrent German Beer Festival, which began on
September 27 and continues to October 5, showcasing the excellent
Warsteiner German Beer (NT$120/bottle). The German Food Festival
offers a NT$680 set meal, with soup, salad, appetizers like
Fried Cheese with Tartar Sauce, and a choice from four main
courses: Bratwurst Mit Sauerkraut, Roasted German-style Pig
Knuckle, Prawns with Beer Sauce, and Beef Steak with Mustard
Sauce. Finish off your meal with Schwarzwald Torte or Deutcher
Kasetorte desserts and a coffee or tea. There is also an expanded
NT$880 meal which includes a glass of Warsteiner or Apollinaris
apple mineral water, and an extra bottle of German Rhine wine
can be had for NT$480. A highlight of the festival will be
a October 4 dinner concert with Golden Tripod Award winner
Pan Lili, singing well-known German melodies. This special
event is NT$880/person with reservations required.
