Taichung residents looking
for a place to slow down the pace of life and seek out a beautiful
setting will not want to miss the newly-reopened Spa Restaurant
(also known as Spool Restaurant). After a brief closure of a few
months, this tropical paradise has now reopened and is now even
more beautiful and unforgettable. The large building and surrounding
garden is exquisitely decorated with all manner of imported Southeast
Asian art and decorative items big and small (many are also available
for sale), not to mention tropical plants ranging all the way up
to big palms and ferns. For customers, it feels like a piece of
Bali was transplanted to Taichung. Dimmed lighting and lounge/chill-out
music complete the setting. The same care that goes into the surroundings
also goes into the food. Mostly-Western business lunches range from
NT$180 to NT$280 and chef's specials run from NT$360 to NT$600.
There are also a wide variety of large, chilled tropical drinks
that come in a variety of big glasses, as well as coffees and other
beverages. As its name indicates, Spa is a therapeutic treat for
your body, soul and taste buds. -By Catherine Liu, Translated by
