This sizable, attractive
Italian restaurant has an ideal location on top of Chung Yo Department
Store's "C" building. The swanky interior seats 80, with
plushy, mod-looking chairs in the center and more subdued decor
around the sides. Another 60 seats are just outside, under umbrella-shaded
tables spaced across a big deck. Both inside and outside, day and
night, diners have a great view of the city, thanks to a tall glass
wall along the edge of the deck. There is an extensive menu of reasonably-priced,
healthy northern Italian dishes, thanks to the expertise of Italian
chef Roberto Eccher, who formerly worked at Taipei restaurants like
Rialto and Cosio Cosi. Antipasti dishes range from the NT$80 Zuppa
di verdure (vegetable soup) to the NT$500 Antipasto del posto (Parma
ham, salami, parmigiano cheese). Main dishes include Penne alla
puttanesca (NT$180), Gnocchi di semolino (NT$240), and Spezzato
di pollo alla Toscana (Tuscany chicken) (NT$340). There are also
12 types of pizza, ranging from the NT$100 Aglio olio to the NT$380
Quattro Formaggi (four cheeses). Other offerings include pasta,
pizza and tea sets, desserts, teas, vinegar drinks, coffees and
a good selection of cocktails and beers (NT$120-170), such as Warsteiner
draft, and Duvel and Chimay from Belgium.
