Mimi's keeps the great beef coming

       Mimi' s Steak House has built a sound reputation and a large following of fans for itself since opening in 1988. The restaurant prides itself in using only the finest quality beef--a claim supported by customers who keep coming back for the excellent steaks.

     Mimi's is located on the B1-level of the Shin Kong Building, next to the big fire station on TaiJungGang Road. The restaurant features classical music, European decor and well-dressed service staff. Reservations are recommended--as the place is always packed with business executives and office crowd during the week--and an absolute must on weekends and holidays. Hard to miss is the large painting of a lovely lady displayed behind the main reception area. This is none other than Mimi, founder of Mimi' s Steak House, who brought her rich management experience in the food & beverage industry and also runs another Chinese restaurant under the same group.

      The restaurant specializes in imported beef sirloin and filet air-shipped from the USA and New Zealand. The frozen meat is displayed in glass showcases for all to see; the management' s intention is to let customers know the freshness of the meat used their mouth-watering steaks. Lunch starts at NT$360 and there are a variety of entrees to choose from--New Zealand Beef Filet (six ounces), Chicken Chop, Pork Chop or Salmon Steak. Diners may pick any one of the four. If a six-ouncer does not satisfy you, ask for their bigger cut and pay a little more.

      The eatery offers a very special fried chili bean sauce, which goes well with the sweet, juicy steaks. One can also order the aromatic garlic house bread that is an excellent accompaniment to the meal. All entrees come with a buffet, consisting of salad and stir-fried vegetables, creamy soups, smoked salmon, seasonal oysters, fruit, juices and coffee.

      A special family promotion starting before the end of December offers a combo of salmon and New Zealand filet for only NT$680. Clearly, if you enjoy good steaks but can' t bear the thought of breaking the bank, Mimi's is the right place.
