Ku Ming started over 30 years ago as the Da Ken Scenic Area's very first chicken eatery, where the birds were raised au natural. However, the female proprietor downplays the history, claiming there is nothing extraordinary about the place. "We've never ever made any attempts to advertise ourselves; our patrons found out about this place through word of mouth. What we did was put our hearts and souls in the food we served," she says, explaining their success formula of simplicity, honesty and goodness. This has spread Ku Ming's satisfied customer base across two generations. The most popular dish on the menu is the "Er Bei Ji" [NOTE: IS THIS 'TWO CUPS CHICKEN'?] ($80) and the Bamboo Shoot Chicken (Large $250, Medium $220, Small $160). The fowl are specially-bred to make the meat firm and sweet. The proprietor is very personal and gracious in dealing with her customers, often throwing in complimentary goodies, like vegetables dishes or beverages, to her regulars. While people flock to Ku Ming for the great food, it's the restaurant's outstanding brand of hospitality and friendliness that customers also can't get enough of.
