This cozy Indian eatery is ideally located in the heart of the city's
business district, on the corner of Taichung Kang and Chung Ming
South roads (opposite Ruth's Chris Steak House). Proprietor Kapoor
is not novice to the business, having previously run the popular
Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant in Taichung. For lunch or dinner, there
are a variety of cheap curry dishes, including Mutton Curry (NT$160),
Chicken Curry (NT$120), Chicken Kofta (NT$150), Shrimp Kashmiri
and Fish Masala. Appetizers and other dishes include Papadams (lentil
wafers), Samosas (vegetable curry puffs), Chickenaba'b Rolled in
Roti, Palak (pureed spinach), Allo Mutter (potato with green peas),
and Naan and Roti breads. Beers are available for NT$80 and there
are other drinks like Kashmir Milk Tea, juices, Lassi yogurt drink
and soft drinks. During November and December, there is a 10-percent
discount on lunch dishes.--By Douglas Habecker
