The proprietress here, Ms. Yang, is a fan of smokeless barbecue restaurants and, therefore, opened this quiet eatery on Jing Cheng 8th Street. The atmosphere is warm and cozy with an outdoor gazebo and tables. The decor is Japanese-style and reflects the sophistication of Ba Ji House. If you have a small group of friends or a family gathering, this restaurant is a good choice. The chef has been working in Japanese restaurants for 30 years and insists on the highest quality, even down to the soy sauce. Due to his experience, the barbecued dishes served here have a very authentic Japanese taste. Ba Ji House prides itself on using only natural ingredients with no additives. All of this is combined with very reasonable prices. Meat and seafood barbecue ranges in price from NT$120 to NT$280. There are also hot pot options available starting at NT$250. --By Rachel Chiou
