Aladdin
is Taichung's first Pakistani restaurant and provides a good selection
of authentic, filling Pakistani/Indian dishes for great prices.
Friendly owner Muhammad Ali--a native of Lahore, Pakistan--and his
staff serve up tasty dishes like the curry chicken, spicy lean beef,
chicken cooked in spinach, and minced beef with peas. These four
filling meals all cost NT$120-130 each and include a small salad,
rice and chapati (bread).
Other options include beef and spinach
curry (NT$100), egg vindaloo curry (NT$70), chick peas curry (NT$90)
and cauliflower curry. All food, incidentally, is Halal. A great
way to finish up is with a India fresh milk tea (NT$50). Aladdin
is located in a no-frills storefront near Feng Chia University's
side wall. The best way to find it is to take Feng Chia Road to
the university's main gate, turn left and take the road along the
wall for about 200 meters. When the wall ends, continue and turn
right at the second lane, by an open market-like area. Aladdin is
about 80 meters up the lane on the right.--By Douglas Habecker
