185, BoGuan (PoKuan) Road
(04) 2323-1806
Hours: restaurant 5:30-11 pm, bar 5 pm-1 am (open to 2 am
Thurs.-Sat. and to midnight on Sun.) |
Those
who enjoyed Salt & Pepper Restaurant will welcome fM, located
in the same attractive place. Run by Taichung bar and restaurant
veterans, brothers Mike Armstrong and Fred Harold (from whom the
"fM" name comes), this place is in able hands and already
well on its way to becoming a hot nightspot for dining and drinking.
The first floor features an extended bar and large, comfortable
sofas, which have replaced the tables and give a lounge-like feeling.
The main dining area has moved to a beautifully-decorated area upstairs
(featuring photos by COMPASS Sales Manager Henry Westheim). The
menu features Pacific Northwest fusion-style cuisine, with dishes
like Potato Scaled Snapper (NT$315), Pork Tenderloin (NT$265), and
USDA Ribe Eye Steak (NT$490). Great appetizers, such as Stewed Baby
Clams (NT$165), are available upstairs and downstairs. Desserts
include a great Ginger-Vanilla Creme Brulee. Mike has introduced
some of America's hottest cocktails to Taichung for the first time,
including the Chocolate Martini and the Mojito (NT$180). Beers are
around NT$150. Coming from TaichungGang Road on ChienHsing Road,
turn left onto the Pokuan Road at the first traffic light and it's
about half a block down the road.
