Next to the Yuan Pao Kung temple is a sign showing the location
of this restaurant. This is an interesting looking place done up
in wood. Some of the decorations include wagon wheels from the time
of Japanese occupation of Taiwan and lampshades made from driftwood
collected by the owner, Mr. Yeh. Outside are several small red lanterns,
which cast a warm glow. From its appearance, it looks like it belongs
in the bar and cafe area of Tokyo. So, it is no coincidence that
Kang Ding 13 Fan Ti serves Japanese cuisine, especially dishes that
were popular in Japan long ago. This restaurant reflects Mr. Yeh's
love of the sea. He treats his customers like sailors or fishermen
that have returned from a hard day's work, and are in need of some
relaxation and good food. One of the most popular dishes is the
lamb chop (NT$90) served with a special sauce exclusive to this
establishment. Japanese-style dishes include baked rice dumplings
(NT$40) and salmon fried rice (NT$80). Of course, no Japanese restaurant
is complete without sashimi. An order of spearfish sashimi costs
NT$180 and an order of tuna sashimi costs NT$200. The sashimi is
not made from frozen fish, but from fresh fish purchased daily.
