Not your run-of-the-mill grill, Tachikawa has individual grills
on tables which allow diners to cook their food--seafood, clams,
lobster, beef, salmon, vegetable--over heated volcanic rocks imported
from Japan. In addition to the five main choices, meals come
with rice, fruit and dessert. The most reasonable deal is
the NT$490 business lunch on weekdays. Full-on multi-course
dinners can cost up to NT$1,880. Diners can order a variety
of items off the ala carte menu, like the NT$360 beef sashimi, NT$150
salad, vegetables or seafood. Side dishes like corn, onions
and sweet potato are around NT$150. The interior decor is
modern Japanese, with plenty of black wood, white rocks and glass
walls, with seating for about 50 and upstairs private rooms seating
eight to 24. Drinks range from Sapporo Beer to the Japanese
Choya liqueur, costing NT$120. Tachikawa is located just around
the corner from the pleasant Lake Side Tea and Shopping Street,
opposite the Feng Le Sculpture Park, just off of Wenhsin South Road.
There is plenty of free parking. Reservations are recommended.
