Hot pot restaurants can perhaps be considered the Taiwanese equivalent
of American diners--cozy and friendly with down-to-earth, filling
food. This latest addition in the booming hot pot market provides
all that with a slight Japanese twist. Diners sitting along
the U-shaped counter can order from a variety of choices for their
main hot pot ingredient, including beef, chicken, mutton and seafood.
Prices for these range from about NT$150 to NT$380 and include the
other usual side dishes, such as 'glass' noodles, tofu, mushrooms,
cabbage and other vegetables, which may also be ordered individually
for about NT$40. Drinks are cheap with NT$20 Cokes and NT$60
Heineken beer. Shang is located just meters from the three-way
intersection of Chinghai Road and Hankou Road, sections one and
two.
