Located in the heart of Taichung's so-called 'Champs Elysees',
this classy-looking establishment indeed does conjure up images
of Shanghai in its heyday (*TRANSLATOR: days of glory and greatest
prosperity). The exterior has old-style lamps, windows and
doors and the interior is full of old Shanghai-style posters and
other antiques. There is even nice outdoor seating on a second-floor
balcony. The food is a mixture of Shanghainese and other Chinese
cuisine (Chinese-language menu only). There is a choice of
lunch set menu items (available daily except holidays), such as
chicken, beef and pork, costing NT$240 to NT$280, with similar set
choices for dinner. During afternoon tea times, there are
French, English and Chinese tea sets. There are also a wide
range of a la carte items, plus coffee and other drinks (NT$160-170).
Main courses come with drink, fruit and soup. To get there,
take Wuchuan 4th West Road, directly opposite the Taiwan Museum
of Art's main entrance, go a few blocks south past Little Italy
and make a U-turn onto Wuchuan 3rd West Road.
