Keeping a healthy environment
Your Body
Words and translated by Audrey Liu
While we all know how to create a healthy home, there is still one element that is easy to overlook--what we put on our hair and skin every day.
Almost 90% of toxins inside those hair/skin cleaning and maintenance supplies will go directly into our blood and lymph circulation systems and, thus, throughout our whole body.
More than 10,000 different chemicals are used in the stuff that you put on your hair and skin. Reports indicate 200 of those chemicals were even detected in the umbilical cords of newborns. Up to 95% of the chemicals used to make artificial fragrances are derived from petroleum and those chemicals can cause chronic skin diseases and also pollute the environment.
So what should we do?
Before purchasing any body cleansers or maintenance supplies, surf the web first and check out the products' ingredients and contents. Here is a list of component analysis of all ingredients: http://www.cosdna.com. If there are multiple preservatives or chemical substances then don't waste money poisoning your hair and skin. Healthy skin reveals your natural and beautiful side and it is not a good idea to cover it with too many chemicals. Those chemicals may also cause aging, skin burden, and toxin build-up leading to cancer. According to the US Breast Cancer Fund (http://www.breastcancerfund.org), also do not used cleaning products with preservatives such as parabens.
When you clean your home, remember to wear a mask and gloves, don't let your skin contact into direct contact with cleaning detergents, and keep all the windows open for good ventilation. Keep in mind: Being natural is being beautiful. |
