Jen-Ai Hospital in Taichung Celebrates 70th Anniversary!

Jen-Ai Hospital in Taichung is celebrating its 70th Anniversary, this year! Initially founded as a small clinic specializing in Dermatology in Shenyang, China by Dr. Chuan-shen Liao (1916~2015) in 1945, Jen-Ai Hospital has now evolved to become a not-for-profit organization with two separate branches in Taichung city (one in the Central District and the other in Dali District). Jen-Ai Hospital－Dali (opened in 1995) is considered to be the biggest hospital in its area with 611 beds; and has been re-accredited many times as being one of the Regional Teaching Hospitals in Taiwan. Jen-Ai Hospital－Taichung (opened in 1947) with its 92 beds has established itself as being one of the oldest and most respectable hospitals in Taiwan. Over the course of 70 years in taking care of the medical needs of the people in Taichung, the hospital has now grown to have 40 medical specialties and employs more than 1,200 employees in total. Along with helping millions of people in Taichung with their medical issues, Jen-Ai Hospital has received numerous local and international awards, as well as garnering much media coverage for its humanitarian efforts for the people of Taichung.

In addition to the various medical specialties that the hospital possess, Jen-Ai Hospital has also created the following Centers of Excellence to help the people with even more difficult medical problems. Jen-Ai Hospital's Centers of Excellence include: Taiwan Spine Center; Taiwan Center for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery; Oncology Treatment Center; Diabetes Center; Health Examination Center; Cosmetic Treatment Center; Cardiovascular Center; Gastroenterology Endoscopy Center; Positron Emission Tomography Center; Breast Center; Baby-Friendly Center; Hemodialysis Center; Respiratory Care Center; Pain Management Center; International Patient Center; etc.

With its future plans of adding a new building with 200 beds, across from the current location of Jen-Ai Hospital－Dali by the end of 2018, Jen-Ai Hospital hopes to continue its philanthropic efforts in helping the people of Taichung. And looking at the current rate it is going, Jen-Ai Hospital hopes to be around for 100 years - as old as its Founder, Dr. Chuan-shen Liao!
