The beautiful night scenery
at Taichung's Wang Gao Liao lookout point is
well known to many. However, it is difficult
to understand just how amazing the view is without
experiencing it personally. Apart from the nighttime
view, the yellow-soil farmland of Dadu Mountain,
old for tifications scenic restaurants, an animal
zoo and other scenic spots all make this area
an interesting place to visit.
To get to Wang Gao Liao, take
TaiZhongGang (Taichung Harbor) Road and head
west towards Dadu Mountain. From the top of
the ridge, turn right onto YouYuan South Road,
which passes through LongJing and Dadu, and
you will arrive at your destination. Along the
way, you will see fields of yellow soil and
a view of the entire city. Further along the
way, a cute little animal zoo might catch your
attention. This place was set up by the city
government, not just as a shelter for stray
dogs, but also to house many cute animals, and
it is open to the public free of charge. Opposite
the small zoo is an exercise park for dogs,
where many pet lovers come on a daily basis
to exercise their pets.
Past the zoo is the highlight
attraction of Wang Gao Liao. The city government
carefully built a wooden walkway for viewing.
On the western side you can see Taichung county's
QingShui, WuQi and other coastal towns. On the
eastern side you can see the entire city. Before
the night sets in, as the sun sets along the
coast, the sea and the sky becomes an ocean
of gold for a most spectacular sight.
As the night falls and the lights
come on, the gentle breeze blows and the symphony
of the night sets in, stimulating the senses
with romance in the air. The beauty of Wang
Gao Liao stems from the fact that it combines
both the bright lights of the big city and the
glittering lights of the stars and seaside towns.
