Hometown: Capetown, South Africa
Age: 32

What Brought You To Taiwan: 'When I was 19, I was hitchhiking with some friends in South Africa and was picked up by a Taiwanese salesman who owned a factory. I got his card and, one year later, took his visiting mother around South Africa.  She then invited me to stay in Taiwan, at her home in Fengyuan.'

Personal Favorite Item I Offer: 'The coffees are the best.  Our salads are also what make people come back here.'

Why I Got Into This Business: 'To give people a more English environment.  I love coffee so much.  That was the motivator; I always had a dream of opening a coffee shop.'

Why People Come To My Place: 'Good service.  We really go out of our way to give service, to talk to customers and see if they need anything.'

Best Thing About Running A Taichung Cafe: 'The opportunity to be imaginative.  If you want to do something, you can try it and express yourself.  Also the chance to meet people and make friends.'

Worst Thing About Running A Taichung Cafe: The long hours.

Favorite Non-Work Activity: Reading personal development and business/marketing books.

Favorite Other Establishment: Hong Kong-style hot pot restaurants
