Dream Mall, the first large-scale shopping
mall in the south, is a place that combines shopping,
leisure, dining, arts and culture. The mall occupies
121,000 pings of space, which is about twice the size
of the Taipei Living Mall, and 6.5 times the size of
Hanshin Department Store. The main building, called
the "blue whale building", is, well, blue
and wave-shaped, reminding shoppers that Kaohsiung is
a city on the ocean. An 824-inch LED screen on the building's
exterior can show thousands of people a live, international
sports event. There is also a 36-carriage Hello Kitty
Ferris wheel that is 102.5 meters tall and takes about
15 minutes to finish one rotation. From there, you can
appreciate the city and harbor of Kaohsiung. Some of
the 1,200 specialty and flagship stores in Dream Mall
include: merchandise from Japan's Hankyu Department
Store, Marks & Spencer from the U.K., a Cinemark
cinema, Nitori from Japan, Pet Plus, and an indoor/outdoor
theme park. World Gym, Hokkaido Ice Palace, T.G.I. Friday's,
Working House, Gou Huai Tang (imported clothing and
shoes), and Eslite Bookstore. --By Josie Wu, translated
