After a month of remodeling and a slight name change, The New Backdoor is an old night stop with a brand-new look. With larger, open seating as well as VIP rooms, it won't be hard for visitors to find a seat on the genuine snakeskin upholstered sofas and watch the little candles float along the small canals. Dark curtains, wall graffiti and bamboo lamps give the place a Zen feel—a bit of a contrast to the original Backdoor.
Apart from aesthetic changes, a few adjustments to the menu were also made. Before, the only food options were quick and easy stir-fry dishes, but that's changed with the addition of new Chinese and Western meals like Spicy Spring Chicken Pasta (NT$290) and Italian-style Salmon with Rice (NT$290). Both highly recommended dishes come in a set meal with a soup appetizer and Haagen-Daz ice cream for dessert. For a tangier flavor, try a side-serving of Codfish Liver Sauce, which can give a dish a completely different texture and flavor.
As far as drink selections go, try one of many vodka mixed cocktails or newly-stocked liqueurs such as Ciroc (NT$2,800), Tanqueray No.10 (NT$3,000) and Don Julio. If you buy by the bottle, you can leave it at the bar for up to one year. With around 40-50 drinks to choose from, it might be difficult to make a choice. If you are thirsty for soft drinks, the staff recommends their Fruity Crystal.
At the New Backdoor, there's a minimum charge of NT$250/person every night and a 10% service charge. The food and drink prices are fairly reasonable and the ambiance is pleasant. The place is especially popular with young women and some families.
 The sofas in the second-floor VIP area are upholstered with genuine snakeskin.
 The Italian-style Salmon with Rice (NT$290) comes with creamy white sauce, salmon roe and asparagus.
 The Spicy Spring Chicken Pasta (NT$290) is crispy, juicy and slightly spicy; this unbeatable combination
is a must-try at New Backdoor!
