Thanks to a chef with 20 years of experience as a cook for the Thai King and 30 years cooking experience in all, this restaurant may be a sure bet. The newly-opened Bangkok City displays decor directly from Thailand, including a huge picture of the restaurant's namesake. The space is clean and bright with a menu of both Thai and Vietnamese food featuring a few delights so far unseen in Kaohsiung. Specifically, check out their Thai-style Fish Cakes and Sour & Spicy Shrimp. The Sweet & Sour Thai-Style Beef (NT$330) and Chicken Coconut Soup with Thai Ginger (NT$250) are also highly recommended. In addition to the usual drinks, they have Singha and Chang Thai beer and a selection of both Thai and Western desserts.
