Machi
Cafe
(07) 282-2068
558, JhongShan Rd, Kaohsiung City
Hours:11 am-10 pm
Having opened at the new location on
the corner of WuFu and Jhongshan roads in October, Machi
Cafe is already very popular with students and is doing
brisk business. Relocated and revamped, the cafe offers
plenty of seating where the previous business (which
operated for three years) was strictly take-out. The
cafe has the usual offerings of coffee, tea and juices
(NT$10-70) along with eats like pasta or noodles and
the very popular pork or chicken curry served with rice.
Most noteworthy, however, is the gelato hand-made by
owner Mr. Huang. The flavours range from green apple,
rose and tiramisu to the traditional vanilla and chocolate.
Pasta dishes are all NT$80 and for an additional NT$49
you can get the set meal including a drink, soup and
gelato. There is no English menu but Mr. Huang is a
friendly guy-ask nicely and he will likely to be happy
to help you! --By Julie Walters, translated by Monica
