73, MinZu 2nd Road, Kaohsiung
Hours: Everyday
11 am-3 pm; 5 pm-9 pm
A man from the UK, with his last savings,
originally started YO! Sushi. It's been expanding throughout
Europe since 1997, and now it's here in the middle of
Kaohsiung city. Located near the corner of MinZu and
LiouHe Roads, the gigantic funky sign is hard to miss.
The restaurant's interior design is very much like the
food - simple sophistication. Their intimate cubicle-like
sections allow you to enjoy private conversations. YO!
Sushi serves fusion Japanese cuisine with an edge, from
traditional fresh sashimi and nori wrapped hand rolls
to nigiri (three blocks of rice with a variety of toppings).
The rolls are their specialty, and you have plenty to
choose from. The tempura fried soft shell crab, Japanese
pickles and avocado, drizzled with creamy mayonnaise
is definitely a futomaki dish you cannot miss (5 rolls
at NT$100). For more variety, try the Mixed Platter
that comes in 3 sizes (small, medium, large) from NT$80
to NT$160. Beverages are limited to Heineken, Taiwan
Beer and Japanese Sake, but you will be served unlimited
green tea and hot miso soup.
