When you've grown tired of watching the displays in and around the Cultural Centre, take a break in this welcoming new restaurant. Osteria Chianti was opened with a clear goal in mind - to bring authentic Italian food to Kaohsiung. You will find no mac-and-cheese here, nor 'deep-pan' pizza. Instead your mouth waters over choices such as Insalata Di Spinaci (Fresh Spinach served with Ginger Dressing, NT$120) and Mariale Tonnato (Pork in Tuna Sauce Piedmont Flavoured, NT$160). That's just to get you started. The main courses are equally authentic, one of the house specialties being Carre Di Agenello Alle Nocciolee Patate (Pan-roasted Lamb Chop covered with Hazelnut in Balsamic Sauce) at NT$480. If you are still hungry for more, there is a great desert selection, prepared on the premises and changed every day. Have a look at their extensive wine and cocktail list to keep you going until 2 a.m.
