This writer couldn't wait to get inside No.612
Moonlight Sea Cafe. Through the decorative door, friendly
folks greet you warmly. The young owner with the little moustache
says hello from behind the counter, while he busily prepares
cheesecakes in this small, but well equipped cafe. The clean,
simple and modern green decor accentuates the atmosphere of
the open-style bar. An extensive private book collection sits
neatly along a wall on a shelf made from driftwood, waiting
for readers to savour them. This small, but welcoming, environment
makes for a great escape with a few friends. Whether you choose
the second floor Mediterranean style corner, the retro-style
sofa area or just a seat by the window, order yourself a latte,
pick out a book and relax to the music of Jack Johnson.
The main fare is Italian coffees, tea, fruit
juices and the owner's handmade snacks and light meals. Also
available are limited set lunches and dinners, prepared with
fresh ingredients purchased daily from the produce markets.
The owner has years of coffee-making experience, and uses
select coffee beans as well as quality fresh milk to prepare
smooth rich coffees that he is proud of, and will have you
savouring them with all your heart.
The fruit drinks and flavored teas all have
names that make you want to try them. There are specialty
milk teas from different countries, like the Hokkaido Milk
Tea - rich in white chocolate aroma. Worth mentioning are
the handmade cheesecakes and caramel puddings. Breakfasting
here is also an enjoyable affair, but is only available on
weekends.
One can say that No.612 Moonlight Sea Cafe
sells happiness, as well as a space where happiness can be
shared. Guests are welcomed to share their travel experiences.
Tuesday is the owner's surfing day, so the cafe is closed,
but you are welcome to join him in Kenting for a bit of sea
and surf.
