If you have driven by the Kaohsiung Train Station recently you may have noticed the friendly smile of "Mr. Pancake" shining out at you from the corner of JiouRu and SongJain. The new restaurant, whose sign has a cartoon picture of owner Tyler Kennedy, specializes in pancakes, bagel sandwiches and ice cream milkshakes. Original pancakes with Canadian maple syrup go for NT$40, while specialty pancakes range between NT$60 and NT$70 and include chocolate, strawberry, banana, apple and cinnamon, ham and cheese and tuna and corn. The Pizza Bagel (NT$90) and Smoked Salmon Bagel (NT$110) are among their most popular sandwiches. Plain, cinnamon, blueberry or sesame bagels are available for NT$40 and come with your choice of butter, jam or cream cheese. Mr. Pancake's milkshakes (NT$80), which may be the best in Kaoshiung, come in the standard vanilla, chocolate or strawberry.
