What would make people want to queue up for ages? What kind of great food has such a level of attraction? You may find lines waiting outside any of the rather famous Lemongrass Restaurants in Kaohsiung during meal times. Don't expect to taste their delicious and healthy Lemongrass Hotpot without at least half an hour's wait on weekends. The friendly manager, Mr. Pan, explained that their uniquely refreshing lemongrass hotpot is prepared daily using fresh vegetables, the bones of a whole chicken, dried clams and lemongrass, and takes hours to make. The fresh, sweet and non-greasy soup base allows customers to enjoy a great tasting hotpot without worrying too much about calories.

Apart from their Lemongrass Hotpot, they are always bringing out new styles of soup bases, such as the Mediterranean flavored Lemongrass Tomato Hotpot, the healthy Chrysanthemum and Gouqi Hotpot, the Thai style Sour and Spicy Hotpot and the Lemongrass Fermented Wine Hotpot and others. There are ten different kinds of soup bases to choose from. There are carefully selected healthy ingredients such as yams, various types of mushrooms, low fat chicken, ostrich meat (that is low in fat and high in iron), fresh deep sea fish and other kinds of seafood, all in the name of letting customers taste delicious food in a healthy way.

Many people come for the Lemongrass sauce and the Lemongrass Green Tea they offer here. This restaurant is one of the few restaurants that offer unlimited supply of Lemongrass Green Tea. Their Fish Meat Hotpot (NT$240) is highly recommended. Fish balls made from fresh squid and shrimps are chewy and delicious. The Three Layered Meat Hotpot (NT$200), the rich Seafood Hotpot (NT$260) and the Vegetarian Hotpot are also worth trying. The Vegetarian Hotpot comes with almost 15 different kinds of vegetables and even includes some rather expensive mushrooms.

Apart from healthy and delicious food, the dining environment here is different from most hotpot restaurants too. There are altogether four Lemongrass Restaurant branches now, all of them decorated in different styles. Their bright, spacious herb themed interior makes dining there a real pleasure.
