The city of Cooperstown, USA, is said to
be the birthplace of baseball. Appropriately, it is also home
to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the sport's great museum
which houses an immense collection of baseball memorabilia.
Cooperstown Restaurant, located on the corner of SangShin
alley just off of JhongJheng Road, between MinZu and HePing
Roads, is owner Tino Hsu's personal homage to the hall of
fame and to the sport of baseball.
Opened less than a year ago, the restaurant
is filled with over a thousand autographed baseball items
including balls, bats, caps and uniforms with signatures from
such notable players as Hank Aaron, Ken Griffey Jr. and Alex
Rodriguez. You don't need, however, to be a baseball fan to
enjoy Cooperstown. The restaurant offers a wide range of excellent
Western style meals. Cooperstown has an extensive selection
of pasta dishes that range from traditional to exotic. The
Spaghetti with Bacon in Pumpkin Cream Sauce (NT$170), Spaghetti
with Chicken in Lavender Cream Sauce (NT$170), and Spaghetti
with Sausage in Mustard Pesto Sauce (NT$180) are three delicious
examples of the latter. For those who are not quite so adventurous
there is the Spaghetti with Rosemary Chicken (NT$220) and
the Baked Risotto with Chicken in Mushroom Cream Sauce (NT$190).
Any of the pasta meals can be upgraded to include a salad
and drink for NT$49, or soup, salad, dessert and a drink for
NT$99.
The Lamb Chops with Mint Sauce, Roasted Sirloin
Steak (both NT$450) or the Salmon Fillet in White Wine Sauce
(NT$420) are all excellent choices for those looking for something
other than pasta. Drinks and dessert are included with the
above. There are also a number of American style dishes including
burgers, fries, baked potatoes and quesadillas. English speakers
should note that this section of Cooperstown's menu is not
translated, so you'll need to ask your server about these
items.
