This chain of German bakeries produces the healthiest and highest quality breads that this author has come across in Taiwan. Mr. Mark bakeries specialize in low sugar, low oil loaves - many of which don't even contain eggs or butter. Instead they rely on high-quality ingredients like imported German and American flour and olive oil to produce delicious breads, flavored with a variety of ingredients including (but not exclusive to) cheese, pumpkin, orange rinds, vegetables, raisins, nuts and maple syrup. Mr. Mark loaves are more expensive than other breads, but considering the quality of ingredients and meticulous care with which they're prepared the prices are fair. And since Mr. Mark has six branches in Tainan and Koahsiung they're easy to locate.
