Just up the road from the nightmarket in Pingtung
is a great restaurant called Summer Loves. The owner has combined
her taste in cuisine with a small nursery. The external seating
of the restaurant has some of the tables dispersed throughout
the abundant flora, that not only lends to the atmosphere,
but is also for sale. The setting is very relaxing and tranquil,
with indoor and outdoor seating. The flowers and assortment
of plants give it a natural feel, more so than with other
restaurants and tea gardens around town. The menu has your
tradional Chinese fare, with meals ranging from NT$150 to
NT$250. They have an excellent Gong Bao chicken (hold the
spice if needed since it can be hot), and succulent short
ribs in teriyaki sauce. Each meal comes with soup and vegetables.
Other selections include pastas and an assortment of meat
dishes served in a variety of ways. The true highlight of
the menu is the stellar Mint Hot Chocolate, highly recommended
for both hot and cold weather.
