If you're in the mood for shrimp, there's
a new place in town! The restaurant is called ChaCha on their
website, but the translated Chinese name means "Seashore
Live Shrimp Restaurant." Their first branch opened in
Taichung 12 years ago, and today there are 5 stores island
wide, with two in Kaohsiung. ChaCha specializes in shrimp
made in a variety of ways - with pepper, garlic, sesame oil,
onions or lemon, to name but a few. Shrimp cakes, pineapple
shrimp balls, sweet and sour shrimp, roasted shrimp and Thai
style shrimp are also available. Hot pot, vegetables, crab,
ribs, and other dishes are offered as well, although shrimp
is the star of the show. Prices are steep, but ChaCha promises
top-quality food and friendly customer service. One pot of
shrimp (about 18 pieces) will set you back $NT550. Most entrees
range from NT$200 to NT$600. Only a 5-minute walk from the
Splendor Hotel, ChaCha is easy to find. There's plenty of
room for large groups and comfortable outdoor seating on two
floors.
