For the past 6 years Bagel Bagel
has been selling what is arguably the best handmade Bagels
in Kaohsiung. Like their business, their menu has consistently
grown. It currently includes a large selection of healthy
sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups and smoothies-not to mention
daily pasta salads, gourmet fried-rice ($120 with drink included)
and a wide variety of Western-style spaghetti and lasagna.
After the first Bagel Bagel in the downtown area, owners Brett
and Ellie saw the growing popularity of the Zuoying district
and opened Bagel Bagel 2 right on the banks of the Love River.
This quickly became a meeting place for people from all walks
of life to sit down, catch up, have meetings, meet old friends
and make new friends. In short, a place to be seen at. Shortly
afterwards they expanded again with Bagel Bagel 3 in MinSheng
Road, which is equally popular. But this hardly qualifies
as news to Kaohsiung residents. Ever dynamic, Bagel Bagel
2 has recently tripled their seating capacity by buying adjacent
space. "We were forced to make our customers wait for
seating during busy times, which didn't seem right."
says owner Brett.
The "new" Bagel Bagel 2 was designed by one of Kaohsiung's
top restaurant designers, has comfortable indoor and outdoor
seating and sports an expanded, renovated kitchen. They also
have a new cappuccino machine for espresso, cappuccino and
latte and their handy bulletin board service and free book
swap is still going strong. To accommodate their increased
capacity they offer free parking right around the corner on
MingHua Rd. (Another addition is a Bagel Bagel outlet inside
the newly opened World Gym at 165 LinSen Rd.)
The many people who are regulars at any of the Bagel Bagel
outlets will know about their regular specials, loyalty cards
and friendly, bilingual service. Those that don't should make
a point of stopping by soon.
