When
dining out, it's always a treat to find quality food at a
low price. If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine, then you ought
to try Hwa Shan Jiao. With 25 years of Japanese restaurant
experience, the owner of this small establishment knows his
sushi. Fresh seafood is purchased daily and is colorfully
displayed in a glass case. Besides the characteristic sushi,
sashimi, and nigiri, a variety of other dishes are offered,
including Japanese-Style Seafood Hot Pot (NT$180), curries
(NT$120), kabobs, cold noodles, salads, and miso soup. Try
the 10-piece variety plate of nigiri for NT$120. Seven pieces
of sushi will cost you between NT$120 and NT$150. The large
sushi rolls are especially delicious due to the slightly sweetened
and sticky rice. Hwa Shan Jiao is clean and well-lit. The
staff is personable and friendly, creating a warm atmosphere.
It's located across the street from the Kaohsiung Business
Exhibition Center. --By Rebekah Godfrey , translated by Cara
