ChengChing Lake exists a little seafood restaurant
that everyone in the area seems to have been to. Since
it has no English name, foreign customers--of whom
there are plenty--simply refer to it as Wu Ching-long's,
which is the name of the ever-friendly owner. Open
for more than seven years, you only have to come here
once to understand its longevity. They serve a variety
of delicious dishes at very affordable prices. The
Red Fried Fish and Sweet And Sour Shrimp are especially
outstanding. They serve beers (Tiger Draft for NT$60),
tea and juices, but customers are welcome to bring
along their own refreshments. And therein lies the
true appeal of this establishment. Both Mr. Wu and
his wife simply want people to come and enjoy the food,
and have some fun. It's not, of course, a five-star
gourmet restaurant--but you're likely to enjoy the
evening here much more.
