Near
Kaohsiung's downtown shopping area, Villa has an elegant
Southeast Asian setting. Their exquisite Thai and Indonesian
dishes are neither sour nor spicy, and feature the moderate
flavors favored by Taiwanese. The prices are also moderate:
Moon Shrimp Pancake is NT$90, while the Ka Duo Ka Duo Pork
Chop, with a sweet peanut sauce, is NT$180. Hot pots, priced
around NT$250, are the most popular items. There's also
Fried Lemon Fish. Drinks include Citronella (Lemongrass)
Green Tea, Zhen Duo (with preserved fruit), and Luo Wang
Zi (a kind of plum) are especially recommended. Villa's
owner has traveled extensively in Southeast Asia, and has
brought back various handicrafts and decorations, such
as wicker chairs, an elephant god statue, and hand-carved
wooden doors. The first floor is non-smoking, on the second
floor has outdoor dining areas with small trees and potted
plants provide shade. Villa, which opened in mid March,
attracts a range of customers, from students to office
workers. If you like to dine somewhere cozy and exotic,
come and see Villa for yourself. --By Iva Huang
