For
people who venture down to Kenting often, the name
Warung Didi will not be a new one. Synonymous with
exceptional food and extremely popular, Didi's--as
regulars tend to call it--has expanded to Kaohsiung
City.
"Our
Kenting branch is aimed at the tourists, but in Kaohsiung
we hope to create a place where diners can feel at
home and ask for anything they want," says owner
Vivian Yi. Accordingly, the new Warung Didi is simply
but tastefully done up with bright decor, creating
a comfortable Oriental atmosphere without being too
traditional.
The
restaurant seats 34 people, and group bookings can
be made provided you fill the place up. The bar serves
a selection of beers (from NT$100), mixed drinks (from
NT$150), and fresh juices (NT$75 and up).
Classified
by the owner as a Malaysian/Indonesian/Asian/Thai restaurant,
the menu is not particularly extensive, but you're
sure to find something that appeals to your palate.
There are starters and soups from NT$130. On management's
recommendation we had the following dishes: Thai Tom-Yom
Soup (NT$180), Hot Sweet & Sour Fish (NT$270),
Thai Boneless Chicken In Basil Sauce (NT$240), and
Thai Seafood Curry (NT$240).
We
were not disappointed. All the dishes were perfectly
prepared and served with a side bowl of rice, making
for a semi-traditional, delectable dining experience.
A personal favorite was the homemade Wonton (fried
dumplings). For those who enjoy dessert there is Caramel
Custard, Tiramisu and Cheesecake on offer.
The
original Warung Didi is at 176, DaWan Road, Kenting
