For
centuries drumming was the sole form of communication in
parts of Africa. Today, this rich African heritage is used
around the world as a captivating source of relaxing, fun-filled
entertainment. African Djembe Drumming is a new name for
the informal drum circle that has been meeting in the park
at Kaohsiung's cultural centre for several months. Now
working with Mindful Phoenix Arts, South African Kevin
Fell leads interactive drumming exercises. As participants
add their beat, they become aware of how their contribution,
as an individual, impacts the group as a whole. The enjoyment
and adrenaline rush created by African Djembe Kaohsiung
helps to release stress, bolster interpersonal and group
relationships, facilitate cultural exchange, and keep an
ancient art form alive. Djembe Drumming can be one of the
most exciting forms of shared energy; it infuses creativity
and a vibrant African atmosphere to Taiwan. African Djembe
Kaoshiung will be hosting workshops and performances in
African story-telling, drumming and dance. Call Mindful
Phoenix Arts for more information, or Kevin at 0910812911.
