An artist by training, Mr. Hsu has been selling antiques in Zuojhen for three years, and has been open in his current location since August last year. A native of nearby Yungkang, Mr. Hsu prefers doing business in the country for many reasons. His spacious display building, which has ample parking in front, would be significantly more expensive in the city. He also has a keen interest in the area Pingpu culture, and highly recommends nearby "Moonworld" for its special scenery. His store has tables, cabinets, lacquerware, vases, paintings, and many other items. Mr. Hsu is very knowledgeable and happy to explain the value and history of each item. Articles between 30 and 99 years old are classified as folk pieces; those 100 or more years old are antiques. Mr. Hsu deals mainly in antiques from mainland China and Japan, and has a special affinity for fine wood products. Prices range from a few hundred to many tens of thousands of NT dollars. Mr. Hsu says that while many customers first notice this tasteful and distinctive green building while driving along Provincial Highway No. 20, it is word of mouth that brings serious buyers to the store. Business hours are "sunlight to moonlight"--Mr. Hsu lives in the shop.
